The West Bromwich Albion striker impressed on loan at Newcastle United and reportedly wants a permanent move to St James’ Park.

West Bromwich Albion striker and Newcastle United loanee Salomon Rondon had a solid game as his Venezuela side held Copa America hosts and tournament favourites Brazil to a goalless draw on Tuesday (BBC Sport).
Venezuela had gone into the Selecao game having picked up a point from their first Group A match, a stalemate against Peru, and the hosts largely dominated proceedings in Salvador.
Rondon had arguably the best chance of the game for his side, his first-half header going just wide, while Brazil saw three goals ruled out as Roberto Firmino, Gabriel Jesus and Philippe Coutinho were denied by either the referee or VAR.
Venezuela have two points from their opening two games and meet Bolivia – who are on zero – on Saturday, while Brazil meet Peru in their final group game on the same day with both sides needing only a draw to seal their place in the quarter-finals.
Here is how some neutral fans reacted to Rondon’s display against the five-time World Cup winners:
Rondon also posted a tweet following the game:
Rondon, who scored 11 Premier League goals for Newcastle during his loan at St James’ park, has reportedly told those close to him that he is waiting for a move to Newcastle amid interest by Marseille, Wolves and West Ham United, as reported by Chronicle Live.
