Arsenal are reportedly willing to offload ace Ainsley Maitland-Niles on a permanent basis for just £8million – and Newcastle should sign him. The Toon were looking at Maitland-Niles in January, before his loan to Roma.
The 24-year-old opted to leave Arsenal on loan in January after playing just 11 times during the first half of the season. The versatile England midfielder chose to move to Jose Mourinho’s Roma, but his situation hardly improved.
He played just 12 times during the second half of 2021-22, starting 10 times but remaining an unused substitute on a further 14 occasions. Needless to say, Roma are unwilling to pursue a permanent deal for Maitland-Niles.

Instead, he is set to return to Arsenal where he is about to enter the last 12 months of his contract. The Sun claim that Arsenal are willing to cash in on the Gunners ace for just £8million, with plenty likely to be keeping tabs.
Newcastle should sign Arsenal ace Maitland-Niles: £8m is a bargain
Back in January, the Mail reported that Newcastle were among the clubs looking to raid Arsenal for Maitland-Niles. However, he chose to move to the Serie A and play with the likes of Chris Smalling and Tammy Abraham.
That move has not gone to plan and now back at Arsenal, Newcastle have another chance to land the versatile ace. The Toon need more depth in the middle of the park, while Maitland-Niles offers cover elsewhere.
While Newcastle have plenty of cash to spend, they will be keeping a close eye on Financial Fairplay. So, being able to sign players for a bargain fee will tempt them to move – and Maitland-Niles fits the bill on Tyneside.
