Jose Enrique has urged Newcastle United to stay away from Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Tanguy Ndombele, despite his ‘incredible’ talents, as he posted on his Instagram story.

The former left-back thinks Ndombele ‘doesn’t work hard enough’ to be part of Eddie Howe’s long-term project at Newcastle and highlighted how Antonio Conte ‘doesn’t even want him’.

Ndombele wasn’t part of Tottenham’s pre-season tour of South Korea and he isn’t training with the senior squad, ahead of the 2022 summer transfer window slamming shut on September 1.

Prior to Richarlison’s arrival this summer, Ndombele was Tottenham’s club-record transfer and a player that had high expectations on his shoulders.

But whilst no-one doubted the quality at his feet, there were questions after questions, and doubt after doubt, about what he does, or in this case, he doesn’t do without the ball.

That’s a big reason why Enrique is hoping his former side don’t sign Ndombele this summer, with suggestions that there is interest.

“It looks like Newcastle are interested in Ndombele,” said Enrique. “It seems like Eddie (Howe) is very, very interested in having him.

“Quality-wise, I believe he is unbelievable. It’s incredible the talent that he has. But for the project Newcastle are building, then I don’t think it will be a good signing. Talent-wise, he’s incredible.

“But you have Bruno Guimarães for that and he’s unbelievable and probably one of the best players in that position. He works hard as well.

“But this guy isn’t the same. He doesn’t work as hard. Talent-wise, as I said, he’s unbelievable. How he takes the ball and everything like that. Antonio Conte doesn’t want him, so I hope Newcastle doesn’t go for him.”

NEWCASTLE AND EVERTON LOOKING AT NDOMBELE

Despite those doubts about Ndombele, clubs in England’s top-flight are still looking at his talents, with Newcastle seemingly leading the race ahead of Everton.

Everton certainly can’t afford to have a player like Ndombele on board because of what they went through last season and how they already have a struggling former Spurs star on their books.

The simple truth is that, both Conte and Jose Mourinho, have tried to give Ndombele chances, but the response hasn’t been good enough.

If two elite managers of that quality, who are also very demanding, aren’t having any of Ndombele’s rubbish, then it should be a clear sign to others.
