Newcastle United broke their club transfer record to bring in Joelinton over the summer.

Yoshinori Muto has admitted to the Chronicle that he thought Newcastle United striker Joelinton was struggling against Norwich City.

Joelinton was brought to Newcastle in a club record deal over the summer, but the Brazilian forward has found it difficult in English football so far.

Joelinton was ineffective against Norwich, and missed a sitter which could have put Newcastle in front.

And Muto, who came on as a substitute, admitted that he thought his teammate was finding it difficult.

“When I was watching in the first half I was expecting it to be difficult when I came on because Joelinton was struggling as well,” the £10 million striker said to the Daily Mail.

Newcastle ended up losing 3-1 to Norwich, with the pressure mounting on Steve Bruce’s side.

Patience will be key with Joelinton at Newcastle, as he has been starved of service so far, but the Magpies simply cannot afford for him to take too long to adjust.

Joelinton is carrying much of Newcastle’s goalscoring hopes, and if he doesn’t find form then it could be worrying for Bruce’s side.

Newcastle’s task of getting their first win of the season does not get any easier, as their next match comes against Champions League chasing Tottenham Hotspur.
