Newcastle United are yet to secure the future of their manager Rafa Benitez, whose contract at St James’ Park is due to expire at the end of this month.

Newcastle United’s summer isn’t starting in the manner in which the supporters would have liked with Rafa Benitez’s future yet to be resolved.

Despite those issues showing themselves high above St James’ Park, a recent rumour suggested that Newcastle could be interested in Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek.

Dutch journalist Marcel van der Kraan on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk Podcast stated that Newcastle have scouted the highly-rated midfielder on multiple occasions and are keen on his signature.

Added with that, Sky Sports recently claimed that Newcastle have joined the likes of Arsenal for the signature of Lorient forward Alexis Claude-Maurice.

Truth be told, recent transfer rumours regarding Newcastle are getting more ridiculous by the minute despite no manager being in place for next season.

The Times recently claimed that Rafa Benitez is a potential target for a Chinese Super League team as his future in the North East is yet to be resolved.

These recent weeks or months have summed up Mike Ashley’s reign as Newcastle manager with so-called big-money investors being touted to take over, big-name transfers, yet Benitez’s future is yet to be resolved.

A lot could change within a few weeks for Newcastle and the dream scenario would be for Ashley to be no longer in charge and Benitez to be given a new contract.

Then the club could potentially talk about making ambitious signings in the transfer market because they would have an owner who matches the passion and ambition of the die-hard Newcastle fans.
