The Newcastle United-owned defender began his career at Celtic.
Ask Celtic fans what the name Stuart Findlay means to them and not many will have an answer.
The 22-year-old defender left Celtic in July of 2016 after being released by manager Brendan Rodgers, before joining up with Newcastle United.
Findlay never made a Premiership appearance for the Hoops and consequently quite a lot of supporters will not have heard of him.
But he is likely to play at Parkhead later this month regardless – for Kilmarnock.
He joined Killie on a four-month loan from Newcastle in the summer after it was made clear to him that manager Rafael Benitez did not need him on the Magpies’ return to the Premier League.
And so far it has been a productive spell, starting Kilmarnock’s last six Premiership games and you can forgive him if he wanted a stellar performance against the likes of Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths at Paradise on October 28.
Even if he manages to keep one of those two in his pocket for 90 minutes, however, it does not mean that Rodgers was wrong to release him.
But a strong showing against the best in Scotland would endear him to Newcastle boss Benitez – who gave him his Magpies debut in the FA Cup last season – when his loan expires.
