The Magpies have had their fair share of underwhelming Ligue 1 imports in recent seasons.
You’d think Florian Thauvin and Remy Cabella would be enough to put Newcastle United off. Yet, according to Foot Mercato, The Magpies are set to raid Ligue 1 once more for another fleet-footed winger.
Algerian trickster Ryad Boudebouz may have caught the eye with his clever footwork and excellent deliveries in the French top flight this season, not to mention his tally of seven goals in 16 appearances, but Newcastle fans could be forgiven for suffering sickening doubts of déjà vu when they imagine the prospect of a lightweight wideman crossing The Channel en route to St James’.
Cabella and Thauvin, two of the most exciting prospects in French football when they completed big money moves to Tyneside in consecutive summers, mustered a grand total of 24 Premier League starts between them before high-tailing it back to their homeland to rejuvenate their stalling careers.

And while Boudebouz has been in exceptional form for an otherwise average Montpellier side, inspiring wins over PSG and Marseille while scoring twice at Monaco, you’d think two bites would be enough to entice a bout of shyness in Newcastle’s transfer strategy.
According to Foot Mercato, West Ham, West Brom, Everton, Tottenham, Roma and Sevilla are all in the mix for the 26-year-old, who has long been linked with a move to England after exploding onto the scene with Sochaux.

However, Newcastle fans will probably be content to miss out on this occasion.
