Chelsea continue to stall a deal to send Kenedy to Newcastle United – but now hope to make a move for Tottenham Hotspur rebel Danny Rose.
It’s little surprise that Danny Rose’s Tottenham Hotspur future has come under severe scrutiny. After all, that is what tends to happen when you publically accuse your team of a lack of ambition while stating that you would be tempted by bigger wages on offer elsewhere.
If Rose was looking for a route out of North London this summer, his explosive and now infamous interview with The Sun certainly had the desired effect.

Because the newspaper is now reporting that title rivals Chelsea are considering a bid of £50 million for the England international left-back. The report adds that Spurs have no desire to sell but a huge offer from Stamford Bridge must at least come under consideration.
And another side who will be watching developments eagerly are Newcastle United. According to The Mirror, Newcastle had struck a deal last week to land versatile left sider Kenedy on a season-long loan from Stamford Bridge.
The Magpies are in desperate need for reinforcements at left-back after Paul Dummett was ruled out for two weeks with a hamstring strain. Outcasted duo Massadio Haidara and Achraf Lazaar appear unlikely to feature again as long as Rafael Benitez remains in charge.
Rebel Rose holds the key
However, Goal reports that Chelsea are stalling over the deal due to concerns about the depth of their squad. Manager Antonio Conte has admitted his frustration over the club’s inability to expand his player pool and the opening day defeat to Burnley at Stamford Bridge merely highlighted the paper-thin nature of the champion’s squad.
Beyond Marcos Alonso, there is no other player at Chelsea’s disposal capable of playing Conte’s left-wing back role – except for talented Brazilian Kenedy.

Unless, of course, Rose arrives from Tottenham. However, if they can’t strike a deal for the Spurs flyer, this could have major repercussions for Newcastle’s desire to bring Kenedy to St James’ Park.
