Newcastle United’s Jacob Murphy may finally be set for second Premier League start

Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy has barely featured since signing from Norwich City.

Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has confirmed to the Chronicle that Matt Ritchie and Christian Atsu are both nursing slight injuries, and that could finally provide Jacob Murphy with a chance to impress.

Newcastle signed Murphy from Norwich City during the summer transfer window for a fee of £12 million, according to the Daily Mirror.

However, the England youth international has barely featured at St. James’ Park so far.

Murphy has been pushed down the selection order due to the former of Newcastle’s other wide-men, and he has played just 71 minutes of Premier League action.

Murphy is yet to make much of an impression on Tyneside, but if he may now finally have a chance to impress.

If Ritchie and Atsu are both nursing injuries, then Newcastle are likely to have to bring Murphy into their starting line-up, and the youngster will be eager to make an impact after experience such a slow start at his new club.

Newcastle’s next outing after the international break comes against Southampton at St. Mary’s.
