Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden was forced off with injury in midweek.
Hayden was forced to come off in Newcastle’s last match, which they lost 2-0 against Arsenal.
The midfielder picked up a knock during the match, and Hayden admits that he could worsen the problem by training.
“I was just uncomfortable in my hip area [against Arsenal],” he said. “I tried to keep going during the first half when it was a little bit sore, and then I tried to carry on after the break but just didn’t quite feel comfortable enough to sprint or anything. So the manager made the decision to take me off.
“I don’t know how it’s going to react until I see when I return to training really. It’s just one of those things where I took the ball during the first half, and felt a bit tight around my hip area. I wanted to play on and said I wanted to carry on, but during the second half I just found it really hard to move and the manager took me off.”
Hayden has been in excellent form for Newcastle of late, despite speculation over this future.
The 24-year-old has been angling for a move for some time, as he reportedly wants to move down south again for personal reasons.
Hayden has proven his worth to Newcastle in recent months though, and his departure at the end of the season would be a blow.
Newcastle’s defeat to Arsenal has left them sitting in 14th place in the Premier League table, with their next match coming against Crystal Palace.
