Do any of your favourite Newcastle United kits feature in our top five?

Here is HITC Sport’s countdown of arguably the five best strips that Newcastle United have worn since 1992…

5. Away 2015-16

Although it was a poor season for Newcastle United on the pitch, their away kit deserves to be fondly remembered. The Magpies only won once while wearing the smart white and blue kit, so it may be a while before they bring out a similar kit in future if they are at all superstitious.

4. Away 2016-17

One kit they have enjoyed a lot more success while wearing is the away strip that Rafael Benitez’s men are using this season. They have won 16 games already this term, several of which came while wearing this dark blue and gold design.

3. Home 1995-97

Newcastle United

It was while wearing this kit that Newcastle enjoyed their most successful period of the Premier League era. Kevin Keegan’s men so nearly took themselves to the summit of the table – they finished second twice – and played some of the best football around. While they failed to mount as serious a challenge in the 1996-97 season as they had done the year before, they did enjoy a sensational 5-0 win over Manchester United while wearing this kit.

2. Away 1998-99

Another blue and gold away kit makes the countdown. Although the club struggled in the top flight, they did enjoy their second consecutive run to the FA Cup final.

Although it was another unspectacular campaign for Newcastle, it was notable for the fact that it saw the appointment of football legend Sir Bobby Robson. The blue on the collar and shorts arguably made the kit slightly smarter than the strip they had worn the previous year.
