Newcastle United winger Matt Ritchie has been linked with a move away from St. James’ Park to Stoke City recently.
Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle may just have sent a coded message to Rafael Benitez on his Instagram story.
Newcastle were involved in a friendly against St. Pats last night, but Matt Ritchie has never been one to take it easy.
The wide-man squared up to a St. Pats player, and Gayle was quick to call him a leader.
The £10m striker (Guardian) also captioned the picture, saying: “This is the sort of determination we need this season”.
Gayle’s message may just be a hint to Benitez that he should not sell Ritchie.
Newcastle are said to be considering offloading the Scottish international by Sky Sports, with Stoke City interested buyers.
Newcastle are in a position where they must sell before buying, and Ritchie could be one of the players Benitez choses to allow to leave St. James’ Park.
Ritchie has been a key player at Newcastle ever since he arrived back in 2016, and selling him would be a major gamble for Benitez to take.
