Danny Rose’s future at Tottenham Hotspur has come into question this summer, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he is no longer playing for Mauricio Pochettino’s side by the time August 8’s deadline has passed.

The 29-year-old was recently left out of Spurs’ pre-season tour of Asia so he could secure a move away from the North London club, with Newcastle keen on his services, as reported by the Daily Star.

It is a surprise that Rose is being allowed to look for a move away from Spurs because there’s no doubt that he is still good enough to play for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

A move to a club like Newcastle, who finished in the bottom half last season and are in a mess with their current owner Mike Ashley, would be a serious step down by Rose.

At Rose’s age, he should be proving that he is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, and he is more than capable of showcasing that on his day.

But if he isn’t playing for Spurs or if he isn’t playing European football then it would be a serious hit for a player that still has so much talent left in his tank.

During the past few seasons, Ben Davies has pipped ahead of Rose at Spurs, but injuries have also hindered the Englishman’s chances of playing regularly.

Added with that, the 2020 European Championships are going to take place next summer and if Rose wants to be a part of Gareth Southgate’s squad then he needs to be playing on a regular basis.

Plus, he needs to be playing at the highest level possible because the competition for fullbacks spots for England is stronger than it has ever been.
