Newcastle United were reportedly offered the chance to sign Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge in the summer.

Newcastle United will surely feel justified over not taking Liverpool up on their offer of Daniel Sturridge, after his display at St. James’ Park yesterday.
Sturridge was handed a rare start for Liverpool against Newcastle, but he failed to impress.
And Newcastle will surely view his display as vindication of not making a move for Sturridge in the summer transfer window.

And Sturridge’s struggles this season, suggest that he may well be past his peak.
Sturridge has suffered badly with injury, and does not appear to be anywhere near the same level that he once was.

The 28-year-old was once one of England’s most vibrant attacking talents, but he now looks a shadow of his former self.
And although Newcastle did not seemingly manage to find a prolific scorer over the summer, they may feel that their money was better off invested elsewhere, rather than in Sturridge.
