Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United and David Moyes’s West Ham United have been told to pay £25-£30 million for Taiwo Awoniyi, according to The Sun.

The report in the British tabloid has claimed that both Newcastle and West Ham want to sign the striker from Union Berlin in the summer transfer window.

Southampton are also claimed to be keen on the former Liverpool striker.

Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin will demand between £25 million and £30 million for the 24-year-old Nigeria international striker, who has scored 12 goals in 23 Bundesliga starts and two goals in four UEFA Conference League this season.

Newcastle or West Ham for Taiwo Awoniyi

In our opinion, both Newcastle and West Ham could do with a striker like Awoniyi.

Callum Wilson has had injury problems for Newcastle, and New Zealand international striker Chris Woods need competition.

Michail Antonio is the only recognised senior striker in the current West Ham squad.

And he did not even start his career as a striker.

So, in our opinion, West Ham need to sign a striker as well in the summer transfer window.

It will be interesting to see which club Awoniyi joins if both Newcastle or West Ham pay the £30 million that Union Berlin want.
