Newcastle United want Joao Pedro and it seems that they are still pushing amid confusion over Watford’s decision to reject an offer.

The Magpies are chasing a new attacking threat and their targets have followed a similar theme.

Benjamin Sesko, Sekou Mara and Hugo Ekitike were all on the Newcastle radar, and all are exciting young strikers with immense potential.

Callum Wilson and Chris Wood are both experienced Premier League strikers so adding a promising talent around them makes perfect sense.

Newcastle have made Watford attacker Joao Pedro one of their top targets this summer,

UOL Esporte in Brazil report that Newcastle’s first offer was worth £17million, but that was rejected and the Magpies will come back with a new bid of £20million.

Fabrizio Romano adds that the bid will actually be £20million plus £3million in add-ons as Newcastle look to tempt Watford into a deal.

The Chronicle also report that Joao Pedro has been left ‘frustrated’ by Watford’s stance.

Joao Pedro allegedly wants to play with Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes at Newcastle and is hoping the Hornets will let him leave.

The Brazilian attacker’s representatives are understood to be ‘mystified’ by Watford’s decision to reject Newcastle’s first bid.

Newcastle will keep pushing but Watford are seemingly chasing a bigger fee if they are to let the youngster leave.

Joao Pedro, 20, is considered to be a hugely exciting attacking threat but only managed three goals in 28 Premier League outings last season.

This would certainly be a signing with a look towards the future for Newcastle, believing that they can unlock Joao Pedro’s potential in the years to come.

Watford have sold Emmanuel Dennis to Nottingham Forest whilst Ismaila Sarr is attracting interest from Leeds United and Crystal Palace.

Selling three attackers in such a short space of time is far from ideal, and that may well be why Watford are standing so firmly in Newcastle’s way right now.
