David Luiz has admitted that he has been cheering Newcastle United on from afar this season.

Luiz is very good friends with Kenedy, who is on loan at Newcastle from Chelsea.

And the Brazilian defender says that he now watches all the Magpies’ games, as he is keen to keep tabs on Kenedy’s progress.

“I try to watch all of Newcastle’s games and he calls me to ask about his performance,” Luiz said.

“But he should not worry, he has been amazing. I am cheering all the goals.”

Luiz’s admission that he is cheering on Newcastle has been taken as a hint by some Magpies fans that he would be open to moving to St. James’ Park with Kenedy next summer.

And many Newcastle fans are keen to see the Chelsea centre-back brought to St. James’ Park in the summer.

The Shields Gazette have reported how Newcastle were considering signing Luiz on loan in January, but they failed with their bid.

Luiz’s future at Chelsea is up in the air, as he has failed to play regularly this season.

Luiz has fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte, and if he was brought to Newcastle he would add presence to their defensive ranks.
