Newcastle United are keen to reunite Eddie Howe with Arnaut Danjuma – and are prepared to send Miguel Almiron to Villarreal in exchange.

That’s according to a report from The Sunday Mirror (03/04, p71), who claim that Newcastle are ready to make their move for Danjuma.

It’s stated that Eddie Howe fancies reuniting with Danjuma having signed him for Bournemouth back in the summer of 2019.

Danjuma only managed six league starts under Howe in what proved to be a very frustrating season for the Dutch international.

Now though, Danjuma has become an absolute star.

After 17 goals for Bournemouth last season, Danjuma made a big move to Spain with Villarreal last summer.

With 13 goals and and four assists in 28 games this term, Danjuma continues to go from strength to strength.

Newcastle aren’t even alone in fancying Danjuma, with Liverpool showing a real interest in signing the 25-year-old according to The Athletic.

That report also noted that Danjuma has a €75million (£63million) release clause in his contract, meaning he won’t come cheap.

Hailed as ‘absolutely exceptional’ by Michael Owen, Danjuma is now being eyed up to reunite with Howe in a shock swap deal.

The surprise part comes with Almiron being offered up to Villarreal in exchange.

Yes, the Paraguayan may be allowed to leave this summer, but a move to a major Spanish club would be seen as a shock after limited Premier League impact.

Villarreal have become quite the home of misfit toys from Premier League days gone by.

Serge Aurier, Juan Foyth, Etienne Capoue, Francis Coquelin, Vicente Iborra, Giovani Lo Celso and Alberto Moreno all turn out for the Champions League side.

Almiron could be the next addition, and it’s important to note that Arsenal made a move for Almiron during Unai Emery’s time in charge.

Emery now manages Villarreal, so there could be some interest there.

Danjuma would be a stunning addition for Newcastle, and if they can bring that price down by getting shut of Almiron, it would be an absolute masterstroke.
