That’s according to The Chronicle, who claim that the Newcastle dressing room is really excited baby Emery’s potential arrival.
One source close to a key player at Newcastle simply stated ‘that would be top’ after hearing that Emery could be heading to Tyneside.
Others are hoping for a manager of real international pedigree, hence the excitement around Emery.
With four Europa League wins to his name across spells with Sevilla and Villarreal, Emery has enjoyed great success in his career.
That’s the kind of appointment Newcastle players want, and their new owners could supply it.
Emery to Newcastle state of play
On Tuesday, The Daily Mail reported that Newcastle expect to have Emery as their new manager this week.
They claim that Amanda Staveley wants the deal done soon and that Emery has told Staveley that he wants the job.
However, Emery took charge of Villarreal’s Champions League win over Young Boys on Tuesday night and later denied that a move to Newcastle was advanced.
Guillem Balague has also indicated that Emery will reject Newcastle and instead choose to stay with Villarreal.
There seems to be some work to do here for Newcastle, and Magpies players may need to calm their excitement for a little while yet.
