Newcastle United transfer round up: Updates on Magpies returns for Andy Carroll and Andros Townsend; viral star Kasim Nuhu scouted

A round-up of transfer news involving Newcastle United from the past 48 hours.

Newcastle United have received mixed news in their alleged quest to re-sign two former St James’ Park favourites.

Bad news first: According to The Daily Mail, Andy Carroll is keen to remain in London despite being offered to the Magpies by current employers West Ham United.

And now the good: It is claimed by the same publication that Crystal Palace could listen to offers for Andros Townsend, as new boss Frank de Boer looks to strengthen his squad.

Elsewhere, Newcastle have scouted Young Boys defender Kasim Nuhu, according to Swiss newspaper Blick.

Nuhu, whose 90th-minute own goal against CSKA Moscow went viral earlier this month, is said to be valued at £8 million.

But the Magpies won’t be signing anyone unless they can offload players first, as confirmed by manager Rafa Benitez last week.

Lucky then, interest is said to be mounting in a pair of Toon outcasts, Jack Colback and Aleksandar Mitrovic.

According to printed edition of The Sun on Sunday, Burnley and Swansea are both keen on signing Colback, although it is claimed the midfielder’s wages could scupper the pair’s chances.

And the tabloid also reports that Malaga want Mitrovic on loan. Benitez, though, suggested to The Chronicle over the weekend that the Serbian would not be going anywhere, with two approaches turned down already.
