Newcastle United are interested in signing Steven Bergwijn from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, according to 90min.

90min have reported this afternoon that Newcastle want to bring Bergwijn on a loan deal from Premier League rivals Tottenham to St. James’ Park this month.

The agents of the 24-year-old Netherlands international winger are looking at a potential loan exit for him.

And, according to the report, Newcastle have been made aware of the availability of the £27 million winger.

Would Steven Bergwijn make Newcastle better?

In our view, signing Bergwijn on a loan deal from Tottenham would be good business for Newcastle.

The Magpies are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

Eddie Howe’s side need reinforcement in attack, and a player such as Bergwijn would help.

Yes, we know that the 24-year-old winger has not been a massive success at Tottenham.

Bergwijn has scored just four goals and created only two big chances in 43 appearances in the Premier League for Spurs.

However, Bergwijn is quick and skilful, works hard, and he could be able to make an immediate impact at Newcastle.
