Newcastle United want Nicolo Zaniolo and have been chasing the Roma attacker for months as they consider a January move.

That’s according to Radio Radio in Rome as they report that Roma could sell Zaniolo in the January transfer window.

Zaniolo is out of contract in 2024 and his value is slowly diminishing – something Roma understandably don’t like.

Radio Radio suggest that Roma fans should get ready for Zaniolo to leave and a number of clubs want to sign him.

It’s stated that Newcastle have been strongly pursuing Zaniolo for months now in the hope of luring him to England.

Juventus are AC Milan are also interested but whether Roma fancy selling to a Serie A rival remains to be seen.

Newcastle will hope for some reluctance on that front, potentially positioning themselves at the front of the queue for Zaniolo.

Newcastle can expect competition from Tottenham Hotspur for Nicolo Zaniolo

It may well be time for Zaniolo to leave Roma.

The Italian was backed to be a star of the future after 14 goals in his first two seasons for Roma.

Two major injuries have set Zaniolo back and he has now scored just three goals in his last 39 Serie A appearances.

Zaniolo hasn’t entirely meshed well with Jose Mourinho and playing with a more expansive manager – maybe somebody like Eddie Howe – would make sense.

Yet Newcastle can expect some competition from a Premier League rival in Tottenham Hotspur.

Italian agent Massimo Brambati, who has been speaking to Tuttomercatoweb about Zaniolo, suggested that Tottenham came close to signing the Roma ace over the summer.

Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici would still love to add another creative player in the final third, maybe somebody who can play as an attacking midfielder and in from the right flank.

Zaniolo ticks those boxes and if Newcastle make their move, expect Tottenham to be following behind them.
