Newcastle United could be able to sign Issa Diop from Premier League rivals West Ham United if they pay £10 million, according to The Sun.

The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Newcastle are interested in signing Diop from West Ham before the January transfer window closes on Monday.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has already enquired about the Frenchman, who described himself as “a very ambitious player” on West Ham’s official website when he joined back in June 2018.

The report has claimed that West Ham are willing to sell the 25-year-old centre-back for £10 million, but manager David Moyes will need to bring in a replacement.

Newcastle should sign Issa Diop now

In our view, if £10 million is all it takes to sign Diop, then Newcastle should make a bid for him now.

Diop is a very good centre-back who would be able to make an immediate impact at Newcastle and enhance their chances of escaping the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of the season.

The Frenchman is not playing regularly for the Hammers at the moment.

So far this season, Diop has made eight appearances in the Premier League, five in the Europa League, three in the Carabao Cup and one in the FA Cup for West Ham.

In our opinion, a move to Newcastle for a good salary and the chance to get the team out of relegation trouble and then build for the coming years could appeal to Diop.
