Newcastle United want Thorgan Hazard as they consider luring the Borussia Dortmund winger to the Premier League this summer.

The Magpies have been linked with a host of potential signings this summer as they look to spend PIF’s money on new faces.

Matt Targett is the only deal done so far and Newcastle continue to chase the likes of Sven Botman and Hugo Ekitike.

Newcastle certainly want to add another winger this summer to help Allan Saint-Maximin and the likes of Ismaila Sarr and Moussa Diaby have been linked.

Newcastle United want Thorgan Hazard

Now it’s the turn of Borussia Dortmund ace Thorgan Hazard, with Bild claiming that Newcastle are keen on a deal.

It’s suggested that new Dortmund boss Edin Terzic is unconvinced by Hazard and Dortmund would be willing to sell for €15million (£13million).

Bild think that Newcastle would like to sign the 29-year-old but is everything as it seems here?

A random Twitter account suggested last week that The Telegraph were reporting Newcastle’s interest in a €15million deal for Hazard.

That was picked up by German news outlets such as Der Westen and suddenly a rumour with no real basis was spreading.

Maybe it’s all true and Newcastle want to sign Hazard, but it just seems a little convenient that this rumour went around the German press and is now being reported by Bild.

That gives us a reason to doubt the validity of this rumour and would Hazard really be what Newcastle want?

Hazard is now 29 and is coming off a season where he bagged just three goals and one assist in 22 Bundesliga appearances.

That’s just not the profile Newcastle should be seeking with their money this summer and whilst Hazard is a relatively big name – mostly due to the profile of his brother Eden – this just isn’t the kind of move Newcastle should be making.
