The Toon Army were finally given some good news with the signing of Joelinton earlier this week but could the Brazilian be joined by his compatriot soon?

According to a report from The Daily Star, Newcastle United target Marrony could be available for as little as £11 million this summer.

The report states that Marrony was first offered to Newcastle United back in May and the Magpies have since expressed their interest in the young forward. The Brazillian is massively rated in his home country but his release clause of £31m would certainly have been a problem for Newcastle.

However, with Marrony’s club Vasco da Gama in serious financial trouble, the report reveals that they would be willing to part ways with their young prodigy for as little as £11m and Newcastle could well pair him up with newly signed Joelinton before the start of next season.

Steve Bruce’s side have lost Ayoze Perez, Salomon Rondon and Joselu this summer and replacing them will be an important task. Joelinton is certainly a brilliant signing who could change their fortunes but he will need all the support he can get from the players alongside him.

Ayoze Perez was a star for the Magpies lasts season and Marrony could certainly replace him. The Brazilian is very similar to Perez with regards to his movement and ability to get into the right places at the right time but he still has a long way to go to be as good as the Spaniard, who is now at Leicester City.

Marrony is definitely worth a shot for the Magpies and with the right guidance, he could turn into a real star in the coming years. However, the 20-year-old will need time to settle in and he is by no means an immediate answer for the club to solve their problems up front.
