The Senegal midfielder could be a hit at Leeds United.
Newcastle United’s Henri Saivet
Newcastle United midfielder Henri Saivet might have to look for another new club in the summer. Newcastle signed the midfielder from Bordeaux in January last year for a fee reported by the Daily Mail to be in the region of around £4.5 million. He played just four times for the club and was sent on loan to French side Saint-Etienne.
The Ligue 1 side have however informed Newcastle they have no intention of keeping the player beyond the end of his loan contract and that leaves Saivet a bit stuck.
But there is a Championship manager who has previously been linked with the Senegal international.
Back in 2015, Leeds United boss Garry Monk was manager at Swansea City. The Daily Star reported that Monk wanted Saivet at the Liberty Stadium that summer.
It never happened and, by the time Saivet was a Newcastle player Monk had been sacked by Swansea.
Monk Benitez
Now he is at Leeds and, unfortunately, it looks like they are set to come up short in their hunt for Premier League football.
To have another crack at promotion next season Leeds will need to improve their team and Saivet would be a fantastic addition in the midfield areas.
Newcastle would not demand much for the player and Leeds could have themselves a talent capable of taking them to the next level.
