Newcastle United’s takeover may have only just gone through, but they’re already planning a move to bring Frank McParland in.

That’s according to iNews, who claim that McParland is one of the first targets for Newcastle’s new regime.

The Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, the PCP Partners and the Reuben Brothers have completed a protracted takeover of the Magpies.

Fans are expecting big moves as Newcastle embark on a new era, and McParland could be one of the first additions.

Amanda Staveley is turning to McParland for a key role at St James’ Park, having recently worked as an ‘independent football consultant’.

Newcastle do also want a director of football, and it’s unclear just what role McParland will hold at Newcastle.

Newcastle target McParland is a favourite of Rafael Benitez

The window for Rafael Benitez to come back to Newcastle may have gone now he is with Everton.

Still, Newcastle could now land somebody very close to the Spaniard in McParland.

McParland worked under Benitez at Liverpool, first as a chief scout before returning as an academy director.

The Daily Mail even reported in 2016 that Benitez wanted to take McParland to Newcastle during his time at Rangers.

The Independent even noted last summer that McParland was wanted if a Newcastle takeover materialised, so this move does make sense.
