Newcastle United are set to hold interviews with both Antero Henrique and Ralf Rangnick as they pursue a new sporting director.
That’s according to The Mirror, who claim that Newcastle’s new regime is starting to move.
Newcastle were taken over last week, and most of the talk has been around a new manager and big-money signings.
Yet Newcastle also want a big sporting director to lead this new project.
Rangnick – the man who inspired Jurgen Klopp’s style of play – is one exciting contender after his superb work with Red Bull’s football operations.
The German isn’t the only man in the frame though, with Henrique also being spoken to by Newcastle’s owners.
Who is Newcastle target Antero Henrique?
Foot Mercato claim that Newcastle’s new owners actually spoke to Henrique weeks ago.
RMC Sport reported in the summer of 2020 that Henrique was a top target for the Saudi-led consortium.

The 53-year-old spent 10 years in charge of Porto’s transfers, before heading to Paris Saint-Germain.
Henrique only managed two years at PSG and has been out of football ever since, but he his work at Porto is attractive.
Henrique landed the likes of Hulk, Radamel Falcao, Joe Moutinho, James Rodriguez, Nicolas Otamendi, Danilo, Alex Sandro, Eliaquim Mangala, Jackson Martinez, Hector Herrera and Danilo Pereira.
Thanks to Henrique’s signings, Porto made profit on a regular basis.
The project at Newcastle may be more like PSG than Porto, but Henrique’s history is impressive.
