Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle has been linked with a move to Fulham.

Gayle was Newcastle’s top scorer last season, but he has struggled to find the back of the net at Premier League level.
Gayle has scored just three top flight goals in 20 appearances for Newcastle this term, but he remains too important to sell at this moment in time.

Indeed, when asked about outgoing players the other day, Benitez said that Jack Colback and Jamie Sterry would be the only players allowed to leave St. James’ Park this month.
The Spanish boss said, to the Northern Echo: “At the moment, apart from Sterry and Colback, the others are players that maybe we will need.”

Gayle, therefore, seems unlikely to leave Newcastle – unless Benitez believes that he can bring in a new front man.
Newcastle only have three available strikers, in the form of Gayle, Joselu and Aleksandar Mitrovic.
And Benitez will surely have no interest in weakening his already understaffed squad this month, unless there is a guarantee that a better replacement is available.
