Newcastle United will seemingly part with Steve Bruce soon – and they are prioritising an out-of-work manager to come in and replace him.

That’s according to the back page of The Sunday Mirror (17/10), as they claim that Newcastle don’t want to spend big on a new boss.

That rules out the likes of Steven Gerrard and Graham Potter, who have been linked with leaving Rangers and Brighton.

If your team has a manager in place, you can probably rest well at the moment, with Newcastle unlikely to poach them.

So who could become Newcastle manager?

If Newcastle don’t go out and snap up a manager from another club, there are a few out-of-work options.

Frank Lampard and Lucien Favre are two options mentioned as being on Newcastle’s radar.

Lampard has been out of work since leaving Chelsea in January, and could be a gamble with his relative lack of experience.

Favre on the other hand is vastly experienced and has managed a huge club in Borussia Dortmund.

Others who could fit the bill are Andre Villas-Boas, Ernesto Valverde, Andrea Pirlo, Paulo Fonseca and Chris Wilder.

Fonseca is thought to be a major candidate according to ESPN, thanks to his attacking style seen as Shakhtar Donetsk and Roma.

This new report makes him a very realistic appointment for Newcastle, who are expected to make a managerial change very soon.
