Newcastle United star Isaac Hayden missed nearly two months of his side’s season due to a serious ankle injury.

Magpies star Isaac Hayden spoke to reporters ahead of his side’s game against Ipswich Town tomorrow, and shared how he struggled upon his return to the first-team setup, following his lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury, because he came back too soon, as quoted by the Chronicle.
The 22-year-old established himself as a key member of Rafa Benitez’ side before he succumbed to an ankle injury, which required an operation, and consequently kept him out for a large chunk of the season.
He came back to action on April 1st during Newcastle’s 2-1 win over Wigan Athletic, coming on for the last 20 minutes, but the former Arsenal man admitted he rushed his return to the side, when speaking to reporters, as quoted via the Chronicle:
“It’s been tough but it is what it is. I had to have the ankle operation done. I couldn’t carry on playing with that. Then once I came back I was working really hard to get back into the team, trying to do as much training as I could to feel fit. Then I came back against Wigan, and it didn’t quite feel right, I wasn’t quite ready in myself. I had a few hamstring niggles. It was very frustrating but that is football.”
Hayden will now be hoping to play a big part in his side’s push for promotion over the next month, and with their current eight point lead over third placed Huddersfield Town, securing top flight football for next season is almost a formality.
Newcastle can mathematically secure promotion with six points from their next two games, if other results go their way.
And if they manage to do that, Hayden will be expecting to play a major role in his side’s campaign in the Premier League next term.
