Rafa Silva could be Newcastle United’s most exciting signing in years, if Rafael Benitez’s side can pull off a transfer.

Silva’s agent has told the Chronicle that Newcastle are interested in the Benfica attacker, and he would be a wonderful addition.

Silva has been one of the most devastating attackers in Portugal over the past season, where he has swept in 15 goals.

Silva is still only 25, and he would add a great deal to Newcastle’s attacking play.

If Benitez could line up with both Silva and Miguel Almiron in attack, then Newcastle will have a forward line-up to frighten any defence across England.

Silva’s arrival at St. James’ Park would represent a real shift in ambition at Newcastle, as he would cost a sizeable fee.

Silva’s current release clause at Benfica is set at £51 million (Chronicle), and while Newcastle may not have to pay that to bring him in, the attacker certainly would not come cheaply.
