Newcastle United could still make a late swoop for the Bournemouth winger before deadline day.

The Northern Echo has claimed that Newcastle United could make a late swoop for Bournemouth winger Jordon Ibe, and the deal looks smart now it has emerged that they want him on loan.

It was claimed earlier in the week that Newcastle were looking to sign Ibe, and the potential transfer looked questionable.

Ibe has failed to really kick on at Bournemouth, where he has become nothing more than an impact substitute.

If Newcastle had invested funds to bring him in, then it would have looked an unambitious deal.

However, if Newcastle can take a look at Ibe on loan then it could suit all parties.

If Ibe does click and find his top form at Newcastle, then he could still go on to become a major threat over the course of the season.

But if Ibe fails to really make an impact, then Newcastle will not have lost much by taking him on a temporary basis.

Ibe would add more speed to Steve Bruce’s attack, which already contains the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron.

And as more details which emerge about Newcastle’s possible swoop, the move now looks smarter than ever as it looks like a low risk but potentially high reward deal.
