Newcastle United are said to be interested in Leicester City’s Islam Simani and Liverpool’s Danny Ings.

Newcastle have struggled for goals throughout the campaign so far, with Dwight Gayle and Joselu failing to find the back of the net with any sort of frequency.
Ings and Slimani would improve Benitez’s squad considerably though, and both would have to be considered upgrades on his current available options.

Ings and Slimani may not have played much this season, but they both have credible scoring records at the top level.
Ings has shown at Liverpool and Burnley that he knows where the back of the net is, and he offers more than Gayle in open play.
Slimani, meanwhile, may not have hit the ground running at Leicester, but he has shown signs of promise.

The Algerian is extremely powerful, and he could give Newcastle a great outlet to formulate their attacking play around.
With the Magpies crying out for goalscorers, Benitez clearly has made signing a striker a priority.
And if both his current bids prove successful, then that could be decisive in keeping Newcastle in the Premier League this season.
