Newcastle United have been linked with both their former players, with Rafael Benitez keen to bring them back to St. James’ Park.

Newcastle United are reportedly attempting to bring back both Georginio Wijnaldum and Andros Townsend to St. James’ Park.
Newcastle had both Wijnaldum and Townsend in their squad when they were relegated from the Premier League back in 2016.
However, they both parted to join Liverpool and Crystal Palace respectively.

Rafael Benitez now wants the pair back, and if Newcastle are able pull off the double-swoop it would show signs of significant progress.
Navkim claim that Newcastle want Wijnaldum, while the Chronicle say that Townsend is on Benitez’s radar.
If Newcastle are able to bring them both to Tyneside, it would prove just how far forward Benitez has taken the Magpies in recent years.

Both Townsend and Wijnaldum left Newcastle with the hope of advancing their careers, but returns could benefit both of them.
Wijnaldum does not look likely to play regularly for Liverpool next season, and Townsend also appears to be fighting for his place in Palace’s starting line-up.
