Newcastle United are said to be keen to snap up Red Bull Salzburg striker Dimitri Oberlin.

Staveley is expected to take over from Mike Ashley at Newcastle in the near future, and provide Rafael Benitez with funds to spend when the transfer window re-opens.
Newcastle are thought to have around £30 million to invest in their squad, and rumours are rife over potential targets.
The latest name to emerge on Benitez’s wishlist in Red Bull Salzburg striker Oberlin, but his arrival would be an underwhelming way to start proceedings under Staveley.

Oberlin may have talent, but the hope is that Newcastle will be able to attract a new calibre of player, when Staveley takes over.
Newcastle would surely have been able to snap up a player like Oberlin, even while Ashley remained at the helm, and they arguably need better right now.

Oberlin shows a lot of promise for the future, but Newcastle desperately need an injection of quality, if they are to avoid the drop.
The Magpies are currently in 18th place in the Premier League table, after failing to win any of their last nine matches.
