Newcastle United are said to be interested in signing David Luiz.

Luiz has fallen out of favour at Chelsea recently, with Antonio Conte seemingly seeing the Brazilian international as surplus to requirements now.
Newcastle have been linked with an ambitious loan move for Luiz today, and that would be a sensational way for Amanda Staveley to start her regime at St. James’ Park.

Staveley is negotiating a deal to buy Newcastle from Mike Ashley and is expected to take over at the club in the near future.
By signing Luiz, Staveley would really announce her ambition at Newcastle – as the centre-back is a higher profile player than Ashley has ever been able to bring to St. James’ Park.
Luiz would also help on the field, as Newcastle need strengthening at the back.

The Magpies are yet to find a solid centre-back pairing this season, and Luiz would be an upgrade on anything Benitez currently has at his disposal.
Although the transfer currently appears very unlikely, if Newcastle are able to pull it off, it really would confirm a new era has begun under Staveley’s leadership.
