Newcastle United are in need of a striker, and Cedric Bakambu is in red-hot form.
Bakambu, who is currently at Villarreal, has scored nine goals in his first 14 matches this term – making him one of the most prolific strikers in La Liga.
The DR Congo international’s pace and power has troubled defences across the league, and his finishing ability has been very eye catching.
Bakambu has a skill set which offers Newcastle exactly what they have been lacking throughout the campaign to date, with Benitez’s side struggling to find a striker of Premier League quality.
Newcastle’s forwards have all struggled for goals this term, with the Magpies generally relying on their defensive strength to pick up points.
Joselu has offered Newcastle a target to hit, but has rarely looked clinical, while Dwight Gayle has not been picked regularly, and Aleksandar Mitrovic does not seem to feature in Benitez’s plans.
Bakambu’s arrival would give Newcastle a quality hitman to select though, and he could be the perfect option for them in January.
