Sunderland had been lining up Aaron Mooy as an addition, but Newcastle United look to have jumped ahead of them in the race for the midfielder.

Newcastle United could be about to strike a major blow to their rivals Sunderland, if reports that they are chasing Aaron Mooy are to be believed.
According to a report in the Australian press, by The World Game, Newcastle have made a bid for Mooy – ahead of the summer transfer window.
Manchester City are said to be looking to receive £10 million for Mooy, with Newcastle willing to meet the asking price.

And that could be a huge set-back for David Moyes’ Sunderland side, who had lined Mooy up as one of their leading targets (The Sun).
Moyes had reportedly been impressed by Mooy’s performances for Huddersfield Town, and put the midfielder straight to the top of his transfer wishlist.

However, with Newcastle able to offer Mooy Premier League football, Sunderland could now be blown out of the water in the race for his signature.
And Moyes may have to look towards other targets over the coming months, with his initial transfer plans already scuppered.
