Newcastle United full-back Achraf Lazaar is set receive another chance to impress at St. James’ Park.

According to the Chronicle, Rafael Benitez is prepared to offer Achraf Lazaar another chance at Newcastle United – but he shouldn’t.

Lazaar was sent on loan to Benevento over the past season, but the full-back failed to break into their starting line-up.

And if Lazaar was unable to impress for Serie A’s bottom club, then it should highlight that he isn’t ever going to make an impact at Newcastle.

Paul Dummett appears a much superior option to Lazaar at left-back, and Benitez should concentrate on bringing another full-back in, rather than handing the Moroccan another chance to impress.

Lazaar was brought to Newcastle in 2016, but his transfer has not worked out, and it is now time for the Magpies to cut their losses on the 26-year-old.

Newcastle are now a top half Premier League side, and if they want to push on then they will need better than Lazaar.

And the Magpies should simply write off his chances of making a success of his time at St. James’ Park, as it would take a remarkable turnaround for Lazaar to have any chance of breaking back into Benitez’s plans.
