Newcastle United have been linked with Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths this summer.

Newcastle United have been linked with a £6 million move for Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths (Daily Mirror), but Rafael Benitez should avoid making a bid.
Newcastle are known to be looking for a new striker, as they aim to compete back in the Premier League.

But Griffiths is simply not good enough to take Newcastle to the next level.
The 26-year-old forward may have scored prolifically in Scotland with Celtic.
However, he has been forced to play second fiddle to Moussa Dembele this past season.
And Griffiths’ last spell in English football hardly breeds confidence that he could score regularly in the Premier League.

Griffiths hit 12 goals in 26 League One matches when with Wolverhampton Wanderers as a youngster, and although he has developed since then, he has arguably not progressed enough to be a regular scorer at Premier League level.
Griffiths may have made a solid signing for Newcastle last season, when they were in the Championship, but if they really want to push on at Premier League level they should be setting their sights higher.
