Newcastle United are expected to be extremely active during the summer transfer window, and they should consider a move for the West Bromwich Albion man.

The Magpies have performed admirably this season, after last term’s disastrous Premier League campaign which culminated in their relegation to the Championship.

Rafa Benitez’ men currently sit at the top of the pile, with a one point lead over second placed Brighton and Hove Albion, with just eight games remaining, and with back-to-back home matches next up on the agenda, they have a fantastic opportunity to really lay down a marker to the rest of the league.

If they do eventually go on to secure promotion to the top flight, the Spaniard will have to strengthen his options accordingly, however.

And an ideal acquisition for Newcastle in the summer would be West Brom’s Salomon Rondon.

The 27-year-old Venezuelan would be a fantastic partner for Dwight Gayle, and their differing playing styles would compliment each other perfectly.

The Baggies hitman is powerfully built, strong in possession and possesses a real aerial threat. Whilst he does the majority of his running into the channels – unselfishly so, Gayle is more prone to operate in and around the six yard box.

And if the Magpies were successful in signing Rondon, his presence in the side would undoubtedly free up space for Gayle, who could then potentially become an even better player.

His contract at the Hawthorns does not expire until the summer of 2019, however, so it would undoubtedly take a fairly substantial offer from Newcastle to even tempt West Brom into selling one of their star men.
