Newcastle United should move for Joe Bryan in the summer

Newcastle United were said to be interested in the Bristol City defender in the January transfer window.

According to the Telegraph, Bristol City defender Joe Bryan could be available for £6 million in the summer transfer window and, at that price, Newcastle United should be interested.

The Daily Express reported how Newcastle were given the green light to go after Bryan in January, but they failed to get a deal over the line.

The Magpies did not have much funds to work with, and seemingly could not agree a deal for the left-back.

However, Newcastle are set to have money to spend this summer, and if Mike Ashley is prepared to invest, then Bryan looks as if he could be a bargain addition.

Bryan is currently being targeted by Burnley, after an impressive season at Championship level.

And Newcastle should consider rivalling Burnley for the left-back, as he would offer them a lot of quality.

Paul Dummett has been a solid option at left-back this term, but there are question marks over how much he offers in an attacking sense.

Bryan, on the other hand, is a bundle of energy and his desire to get forward constantly makes him a major weapon.

For just £6 million he could be a brilliant addition to Newcastle backline, and Rafael Benitez’s side should re-ignite their interest from January, with the defender seemingly available at the end of the season.
