Newcastle United are said to be far more likely to move for Norwich City’s Jacob Murphy than Leicester City’s Demarai Gray.

According to the Northern Echo, Newcastle United have been put off making a bid for Demarai Gray due to Leicester City’s £20 million asking price.

Newcastle are now far more likely to make an offer for Norwich City’s Jacob Murphy, who is available for £12 million – as reported by The Chronicle.

Newcastle feel that Murphy represents better value for money, but the Magpies should stop bargain hunting and simply pay up for Gray.

Newcastle may feel that Murphy is a more accessible target, but by signing the wide man they would be taking a major gamble.

With Gray, however, the Magpies would be signing a player who has already proven he can make an impact at Premier League level.

Although Gray is yet to sustain a place in Leicester’s first-team, he has shown in flashes that he can harm Premier League defences.

And, for the sake of £8 million, Newcastle should go out and get him rather than Murphy – as the Leicester man could make a major difference for Rafael Benitez’s side, as they aim to re-establish themselves at Premier League level.
