Newcastle United have wanted Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson for over a year, according to reports.
According to a report in the Chronicle, Rafael Benitez wants two new strikers this summer and that should lead him to put Callum Wilson back on his transfer wishlist at Newcastle United.
Wilson was linked with Newcastle last summer, and then again in January (Chronicle) – but no deal ever materialised for the Bournemouth striker.
The Magpies and the Cherries were unable to agree a fee for the rapid forward, but Benitez should ensure that he invests to sign the 25-year-old this time around.
Newcastle have around £100 million to spend this summer (Chronicle), and Wilson’s arrival would unquestionably improve their strike force.
Bournemouth could also be more open to doing a deal than ever before, due to the emergence of Josh King this season.
Wilson has been Eddie Howe’s side’s main man up-front for the past two campaigns, but King has taken over the role as the South coast’s side’s leading marksman this campaign.
And if Newcastle could get a deal done for Wilson, it would be a great start to their summer business, as they look to ensure they are fully equipped to make an impact back at Premier League.
