Southampton are said to be tracking Xherdan Shaqiri, and Newcastle United should rival them.

Southampton feel that they could tempt Shaqiri with a move away from Stoke, but Newcastle would be wise to join the queue for the Swiss international’s signature.
Rafael Benitez has only had a limited amount of funds to spend at Newcastle to date, but he will surely be given money if the Magpies do stay in the Premier League.

Newcastle look likely to remain in the top flight, as they currently have a healthy cushion above the drop zone, and Shaqiri should now be made one of their first choice targets.
If Newcastle really want to push on, they are going to have to add to their attacking threat, and Shaqiri would certainly do that.

The 26-year-old winger has enjoyed a productive season at Stoke, where he has provided seven goals and six assists in 29 Premier League matches.
And if he could be similarly effective at Newcastle then he would look a bargain at £20 million.
