Newcastle United are known to be on the look out for a new striker this summer.

Newcastle United’s struggles to find a new striker, should lead them towards Robin van Persie this summer.

Van Persie is being tipped to make a Premier League return with Crystal Palace, by the Daily Mirror.

The former Arsenal and Manchester United man is keen to return to England, and wants to leave his current club, Fenerbahce, in the near future.

Palace are believed to be leading the race for Van Persie’s signature, but Newcastle should considering making a bid.

The Magpies are known to be on the hunt for a new forward, and even though Van Persie is reaching the twilight of his career he could still be a very valuable addition.

The 33-year-old has not lost his scoring touch, and has found the back of the net 36 times in the past two seasons.

And Van Persie could complement Dwight Gayle well at Newcastle.

Gayle and Van Persie are both deadly finishers, and their partnership would unquestionably be a threat to Premier League defences.

Of course, Van Persie would have little re-sale value – but his arrival at Newcastle could help Rafael Benitez’s side make the transition back to playing top flight football and he looks to be an excellent short-term option for the Magpies.
