Stoke City are ready to move for Andriy Yarmolenko, but Newcastle United should gatecrash the party.
Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez said last week that he needs to add more players to his squad ahead of the 2017/18 Premier League campaign.
The Spaniard has emphasized on signing a forward, possibly a striker, but it is evident that he wants to bolster his attacking department.
The Magpies have been very active in the summer transfer window, having signed as many as five new players.
Benitez has been given the financial backing by owner Mike Ashley to sign players of his choice.
“We are trying to change some players,” Benitez told The Chronicle when asked about signing new players. “We have to wait to see the right offers and then after we will see if we can add some players.
“I think we need some more players. I wouldn’t say how many, but it also depends on the market. Mike convinced me he would give us the last penny of the money available.”
The 27-year-old is a highly skilful player who scored 19 goals in each of the last three seasons for Dynamo Kiev.
He is a regular member of the Ukraine national team, and has 29 goals to his name in 68 matches for his country.
Yarmolenko is a right sided attacking midfielder, who can play in the no 10 role as well. However, rather than hugging the touchline he is just as comfortable finding pockets of space between the defence.
He is equally good with his distribution and has fantastic dribbling skills which he uses to make runs from the deep.
According to transfermarkt, he could cost around £15.3 million, which is a fair market value for a player of his ability.
He would add significant quality and depth to the Newcastle side, and would be a great addition to the squad.
