Newcastle United wanted winger Patrick Roberts back in 2017, when Rafael Benitez first spotted his talent.

Newcastle United wanted Patrick Roberts in 2017, and they should try for him again now, as the Manchester City winger could be rehoused in January.
Roberts has moved to Girona on a temporary basis, but he has failed to play much in Spain.
And Newcastle should make sure they are at the front of the queue for the winger which Benitez wanted in 2017.
Roberts could still be an impressive signing for Newcastle though, as the wide-man has shown flashes of quality over his career to date.

The 21-year-old was a fans’ favourite at Celtic, and he could be a wildcard at Newcastle over the second half of the season.
Roberts is wonderfully skilled in possession and loves to commit defenders, which means he would offer Newcastle a different kind of threat going forward if he was to join.
And Benitez would be wise to snap up the wide-man, if he does become available again.
