Newcastle United look certain to stay in the Premier League this season.

According to a report in the Telegraph, Danny Drinkwater could leave Chelsea in the summer – as he has grown frustrated at a lack of game time.

Drinkwater only moved to Chelsea last summer from Leicester City, but he has spent most his time on the substitutes’ bench this season.

And Newcastle United should be looking to take advantage of Drinkwater’s desire to leave Stamford Bridge.

Newcastle have a core of English players at the club, who have all impressed this season.

Jonjo Shelvey and Jamaal Lascelles have both been vital to Newcastle’s success this season, and Drinkwater could help bolster the spine of Rafael Benitez’s side.

Drinkwater may not have made it at Chelsea, but his quality is clear to see.

The 28-year-old is a Premier League winner, with three England caps to his name.

If he was brought to Newcastle, he could offer the Magpies energy in midfield, and could form a great partnership with Shelvey.

And if Drinkwater is available in the summer, then Benitez’s side would be wise to make a bid for the combative midfielder.
